Sustainability Poster Series
Project outline:
Tell three stories or narratives on the following topics as they relate to the concept of waste management, recycling, and conservation of resources. Each poster must include maps, charts, timelines, diagrams, and infographics that explain the history, ideas, solutions, quantitative and qualitative data. Incorporate illustrations, found imagery, or designed graphics.
The Sustainability Chronicles is a three-poster series that explores sustainability through three different lenses. The first poster shows a timeline of key events through our journey to sustainability. The second poster breaks down four recyclable materials: plastic, aluminum, paper, and cardboard. The third poster shows a case study of a possible solution to a more sustainable future.
Throughout the three posters, I tried to emphasize the past (black), present (white), and future (orange). The black transitions to orange in poster one to show society’s increasing awareness of our negative ecological impact. The second poster is white to shed light on our current recycling system. Orange was used to represent the possibility of creative problem solving for the future. I emphasized type rather than imagery to encourage the viewers to spend time reading and used a five-column grid system to organize the information. I hope these posters serve as a reminder to become more conscious of our consumption as individuals and encourages people to reevaluate their non-sustainable habits.
